Norwegian Language Course

Norwegian Language Course

The Language Center at the Norwegian Foreign Service Institute together with Migranorsk have the pleasure of offering an internet based Norwegian self-study language course.
Invitations with an application deadline will be sent all missions
The self-study learning programme is an interactive, internet-based learning tool for adult learners who need to learn and/or improve Norwegian, as well as increase their knowledge about Norwegian society. In addition to the programme, based upon video clips, interactive exercises, recordings and pictures, a tutor will follow up on your progress, correct your exercises and meet with you on the internet. The programme covers levels, from A1 to B1 according to the Common European Framework. If you are accepted on the course, you will receive a placement test in order to place you at the right level. Please study the enclosed invitation for further information and details about the course.
Who can participate and what are the prerequisites to participate in the course?
The course is an offer to local employees at diplomatic stations abroad, as well as foreign accompaniers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs/NORAD employees at home and abroad.
There are 15 places available, and the costs will be covered by NFSI.
Applicants for the programme are required to have the following in order to be considered:
- Access to a computer with internet connection.
- Be able to use computers on a basic level (sending and receiving e-mails, exploring the Internet…)
- A strong motivation and willingness to work seriously and regularly with the Norwegian studies. We would like to emphasize the fact that when you sign up for the programme, you sign up for a 12 month course. It is important to thoroughly think through and discuss with your employer how much time you can set aside for studying Norwegian during your work time and/or free time.
Due to a limited number of places available, we would like applicants to send a one-page statement of purpose giving reasons for applying for the programme.
If you have further questions about the course, please contact us at the following e-mail address: sprakenheten@mfa.no
